Time to Renew…You?

Can you remember the last time you enjoyed the moment? Has it been awhile?

When we slow down and enjoy a sunset or a conversation, we ignite a feeling of peace and joy. We don’t have to travel thousands of miles to stir up a sense of rejuvenation.

Everyone is different, but we all need to monitor our mental and physical well being. Times like these, we need some renewing of ourselves. How do you do it?

Start with being mindful of your breathing, conversations, the moment. If it has been awhile, make time right now to renew yourself, Slow down and enjoy.

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, remember and honor all who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. In observance of Memorial Day, we will have no Virtual Classes on Monday, May 25.

Perseverance

Can you remember the last time you found yourself at a cross road? Do I quit or not? Perseverance is not the easiest choice in life.

This idea of not giving up can be applied to so many levels in our life. Whether it’s not giving up during your workout or as big as a relationship.
 
Don’t get me wrong, I’m in full agreement to cut the cord on abusive relationships or harmful activities. I’m talking about making the choice to not give up when life happens.
 
It’s interesting that the Korean Word, In Neh, means endurance as well as patience. My encouragement for you is to be patient and not give up when things do go wrong. Start with the little “stuff” that gets under your skin. Take a deeeeep breath and realize it’s just not worth it.
 
Best wishes on being a more peaceful individual through perseverance. You’ve got this!

Make Your Fun

One of the best ways to manage our stress, build relationships and keep a positive attitude is through having fun. You might even think, how can we begin to think about having fun in a time like this?

It’s understandable. Having fun is often something most adults put on the back burner. So what do you like to do for fun… Has it been too long since you’ve actually had fun?

Try these fun ideas for something to brighten up your week:

  • Coloring – they have adult coloring books that can be lots of fun.
  • Gardening – get some seeds and try growing herbs, vegetables and/or flowers.
  • Try a New Hobby – what’s something that you’ve always wanted to try? Go for it.
  • Game Night – break out the board games and have some family fun.
  • Have a Beach Day – take a personal day or get the family and have a fun day at the beach.
  • Adventure Walk – plan a fun walk in nature and see what you can discover.

Life can get busy, crazy, very serious and very stressful. Making plans to have fun should be a part of our mental health plan. Make a plan this week to go have fun. You won’t regret it. 🙂

Pivot

We’ve been hearing a lot of buzz words these days like social distancing, essential workers and pivoting.

Before pandemic times, you would hear the word, pivot, on a weekly basis at the dojang. It simply means to turn or rotate.

We’ve all taken this word and REALLY applied it to many areas of our life. We’ve adjusted how we teach classes, schooling and even grocery shopping.

It’s been essential for the survival of our world. When faced with challenges ahead of you no matter the size, pivot to find the solution for success

When will we Reopen???

We are looking forward to having classes again at the dojang. According to state guidelines, we will be able to reopen group classes in Phase 2. Here are a few things to expect once we are allowed to reopen.

• Temp Checks – Prior to entering the dojang, each student will have their temp recorded.

• Masks – Students are encouraged to wear a mask.

• Social Distancing – Students will need to keep a distance of 6′ between one another at all times. There will be No contact. Students will stay in their marked areas during class.

• Limited Class Size – There will be limited class sizes due to restrictions. Classes will be open to a maximum of 8 students per class.

In the coming weeks, we will provide more information regarding our reopening. Virtual classes (ZOOM/Facebook Live) will still be provided for at home study along with classes held at the school. The schedule will continue to mirror the one used currently.

Beach Body or Bust

It’s funny how every year our society gets pumped about getting into shape for the infamous beach season. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have a goal. However, let’s think about the bigger picture in regards to our health.
Exercising to improve our quality of life is more encouraging than trying to fit into a bathing suit for a few months. If you don’t have a current exercise routine, try this.

  • Go for a Walk
  • Ride a Bike
  • Play with your kiddos outside
  • Do exercise routines on YouTube
  • Try out Tang Soo Do 😉

Look around your house and see what you already have to use. Is your treadmill buried under clothes? Break out the paddle boards, skateboards, roller skates, etc.
For most activities, you don’t need a lot of space or equipment. Simply start with a desire to improve. Keep it realistic and fun.
To help you stay motivated, find yourself a partner in crime. This could be a family member or friend.
With some consistent work, those bathing suits might just fit year round. Good luck finding the best routine to improve yourself!

What About Testing?

Don’t know if you knew this, but our belt testing was supposed to be last week. Global pandemics seem to put a damper on our normal activities. We also know you have all been going through your own personal challenges. The last thing we want is to add more pressure on you or your family. We have created a short survey for members to track student test readiness. In our attempt to keep some sort of normalcy, we will hold our test and black belt recertification MAY 15th & 22nd through ZOOM. We plan to hold individual sessions with each household to give our students the most attention to their training. It is absolutely understandable if you and/or your child don’t feel ready to test.

Growth

How many of you out there like to grow things?  When I say things, I mean yourself, others, plants, etc. You know… things.
What a great feeling to pick a vegetable from your garden or discover positive growth in your life.
What can we do this week to kick start growth in our life? Below are a few tips to help us get on track with a growth mindset.
Identify and write down what you want to improve in your life.
Develop a realistic growth plan.
Read your growth goals and plan daily.
Take consistent steps daily toward your goals.
Listen and/or read motivational material daily.
Exercise daily to give you the extra boost.
Recognize it will be uncomfortable to grow, but the rewards are priceless.
Visualize where you want to be.
Get started today on growing your potential.

Healthy Parenting Tips

Wow! Parenting by itself can be rather challenging. Trying to juggle a pandemic, work, home schooling and random tornadoes can be rather insane. No worries. We’ve got you covered.
